Luxury vinyl tile or plank is terrific for modern rustic decor because there are many options. It follows all the trends, and there are hundreds of photos from which to choose.
You'll see a lot of wood and stone floors in rustic design. Luxury vinyl, with true-to-life echoes of these materials, is a wonderfully affordable option.
Wood floors for rustic design
It's all about natural beauty and the "imperfections" created by Mother Nature. So, for instance, you'll never see stained wood.
Wood, or a wood-look luxury vinyl plank, will always be a natural color. It will also usually be in a white or light shade (light gray) to better show off knots, scrapes, burns, grains, and color variations.
Planks are wide, and sometimes there are random-width layouts.
Natural stone patterns
Their earth-tone color palettes, granite, slate, and travertine, are ideal for this decor. Anything that "brings the outdoors in" works!
With ceramic tile mimics, floral designs or pebble-like patterns are great. You also aren't limited as to how to use a format.
Some use LVT, the square, tile-sized pieces, for wood-look tiles. Others use vinyl plank for stone or large-format tile looks.
Best textures for rustic decor
Thanks to modern technology, embossing can create these "finishing touches' ' on wood floors. Three, in particular, are often referred to mainly as rustic textures.
These include wire-brushed, which gives a subtle distressed look. Hand-scraped features color variations and provides each plank with a unique (and expensive) look.
Distressed texture makes the LVP floors look beat up. There are scrapes, dents, scratches, burn marks, and holes.
